Forced will be focusing on the events of the original trilogy only, that is Episodes IV, V, and VI and everything that happened in between. The events of the actual films will be a part of the game storyline but most of it will be filled in with events that happened during "off-screen" time. Most people will probably be fairly familiar with the basic storyline of this time period but there's a lot of "expanded universe" history that many people might not be aware of. It's not necessary to know everything but having a broader knowledge of canon definitely helps.
A good, reliable source of all Star Wars canon topics is Wookieepedia.com which is the source that will be used by the mods throughout the course of the game. We will, however, occasionally turn a blind eye to certain parts of canon that we feel conflict with other parts, that we disagree with, or that we find are just plain silly. There's a lot of Star Wars canon that has come from a large variety of sources with varying confirmation from Lucasfilm, so that's likely to happen at least a couple times. Players will be made aware when this happens.

⁞pre-game history
- The Galactic Empire has governed the core planets in the galaxy since 19 BBY, or immediately following the events of Revenge of the Sith. Supreme Chancellor Palpatine orchestrated the Clone Wars by secretly heading both sides of opposition and ultimately ammending the Galactic Constitution to give himself more power. The Jedi Council was largely exterminated allowing Palpatine to declare himself Emperor of the first Galactic Empire.
- The Republic has since vanished and all governing bodies who were once allies of the Republic have had to hand over their delegation to the Empire or be taken by force. Most systems went quietly but some senators, representatives, and diplomats have remained secretly loyal to the Republic.
- The Empire allowed core planet senators to continue to represent their districts but most of their power was lost in Palpatine's acquisition of control. From 19 BBY to 2 BBY various groups have been forming in support of a rebellion to restore the Republic. In 2 BBY the Rebel Alliance was officially unified and created a strong military presence against the Empire, thus beginning the Galactic Civil War.
- The Imperial Senate held very little power and has served more as an advisory board to the Emperor. Its power and influence has been gradually decreased over the years and by the point in time that the game starts it will be hanging on by a thread.
- The planets in the outer rim primarily govern themselves, mostly because the Empire lacks the cojones to get entangled with the various Hutt Cartel and Black Sun syndicates who run most of these systems, but also because they just don't really care about the outer rim. It holds very little power and while the crimelords have the resources to do crippling damage to the Empire's forces, they're content to turn a blind eye and let the outer rim carry on with its quiet criminal dealings so long as they stay out of Imperial business. Thus far this has been a very fragile relationship and isn't likely to last forever.
- The Rebel Alliance has grown massively in size since its insurrection and has also started gaining public support from several politicians and other influential persons, most of whom have either had to go into hiding or have been arrested by the Empire.
- The Alliance is powered by army and naval forces supported by a fleet of starfighters, cruisers, and capital ships, primarily of Corellian and Mon Calamari make and design. Most of their resources have been donated by supporters or stolen from Imperial shipyards, warehouses, and technology labs. Despite monetary support from various organizations and philanthropic individuals the Alliance is often low on resources and must rely on secrecy to avoid being snuffed out by the Empire. Most of their strategy involves sabotage and forcing the Imperial fleets into positions that put them at a tactical disadvantage.
- The very highest office in the Alliance is that of the Chief of State, a position currently held by Mon Mothma, a human female from Chandrila. The position holds very high power and is akin to a dictatorship, intended only to keep a unified presence during the war. It is a temporary office that will be abolished in favor of a more democratic approach once the war ends.
- The Rebel base itself is under high security and only those in direct affiliation with the Alliance know its secret location. The base has been relocated several times since the Alliance's formation due to repeat suspected or confirmed discovery by the Empire, or as in the case of the base on Orion IV, destroyed by Imperial forces. Its location at the start of the game is the fourth moon of the gas giant Yavin, otherwise known as Yavin IV.
